Shit Happens – (Chapter: chapter 2.1)

    Spencer’s pov
We spent for what felt like an eternity just looking into each others eyes, seconds going by filled with silence. I broke my eyes away from her, I turned to look at the clock besides the bed, not even really realizing I still wasn’t wearing clothes during this whole conversation, my underwear being the only exception.

“I have to go, Madison.” I say this as I finally go around the room and gather all my discarded clothes that were strewn all around. Her eyes focus on me, watch me move around the room. I see my skirt laying across a chair. I slide my legs into it, shimming it up my legs and hips.

“ I need to know something before you leave. What are we Spence? Are we friends that happened to sleep together?”

I had my shirt in my hands when she said this, my body frozen,. my back stiffened. I quirk my eyes at her and the implication of what she said. “What do you mean?”

“I mean….. god..” Her fingers comb their her brown tussled hair.” I don’t know what I mean.” she ends with a sigh.

“I’m just confused, I’m straight or least I thought I was but I can’t help wanting to kiss you right now.” My mouth hangs open shocked at her confession. I wish I could give her some sort of answer but I don’t have one and take the cowards way out. I put my shirt on.

    “I have to go.”

Grabbing my shoes on the way out of the room. Leaving her question and confession hanging in the air. Leaving it unanswered. I saw a sad expression on her face as I walked by her. I paused at the door and looked back at her. Her eyes still averted away from me. I could no longer see her face but her body exuded sadness. She turned her head towards me, my body leaning against the door way.

I turned away from her, finally closing the door of her room as I left. Tears filled my eyes as I left her house. It seems that’s all I’ve been doing lately crying over things I can’t change. I don’t know why or who these tears are for. Were they for Ashley? Or for the girl who helped heal some of the heartache over Ashley, if only for one night. I don’t know. Still these silent tears fall down my face and are still there as I walk out of her house. They dry by the time I get home. I wish I had answers, to Madison’s questions and to my own.
