Your Winter – (Chapter: Endlessly, She Said.)

    Chapter Five: Endlessly, She Said.

“I fucking hate this movie,” Madison grumbled, spooning out a chunk of ice from her cup and shoveling it into her mouth. The coldness numbed her tongue, but soon the combined heat of her mouth and crashing of her teeth made the ice disappear into water she swallowed.

Spencer raised her eyebrow, briefly glancing at her friend before turning her eyes back to the screen. Her best friend had been in a sour mood all night, and after hours of trying to get her to talk about it, the younger girl had given up. It wasn’t that she didn’t care what was going on inside of the girl’s head, it was just that she could barely grasp what was going on inside of her own. All she could think about was those tears spilling from Ashley’s eyes, and how much she had wanted to kiss them away. It wasn’t fair. Having feelings after all these months for a girl who had shattered her world, simply wasn’t fair. Maybe being a lesbian really was a sin, because it was quite obvious Jesus was punishing her.

“Umm… hello? Are you suddenly not acknowledging me now because Ms. QueerSlut is back to ruin your life even more?” Madison’s voice tinged with venom, causing Spencer’s head to snap towards her in shock. She hadn’t heard that voice directed at her since before prom. Guilt washed over Madison instantly when she saw Spencer’s face, and she shoved another cube into her mouth.

Spencer shuffled on the living room floor of Madison’s house, pushing herself into a sitting position, turned towards her friend. She looked at her expectantly, but after a few minutes of silence, she realized Madison had no intentions of explaining herself without being pushed. “What’s your problem Maddie?” she asked softly, her voice laced with fear and concern.

“I told you. I hate this movie.”

Spencer raised an eyebrow. “You picked it out.”

“Well, I hate it. And I didn’t realize how much until right now. Seriously, it’s so obvious that they are the old couple,” Madison rolled her eyes, shaking her cup of ice. “Not to mention the ridiculous ending! People can’t die together, just because they’re in love. If this movie was realistic, one of them would die, and the other would be left behind!” The remote was next to her, but she made no move to stop The Notebook from flashing across the screen.

    1. I think this post-prom season 2 fic is my favorite so far. I can totally see Spencer making this transformation if Clay and Glen were to both die. I can’t remember though, do we know where Ashley went when she ran away? Where are Arthur and Paula to let Spencer slip away like this? I’m gonna have to go back and refresh my memory on the earlier chapters.

    2. Hehe, I’ll answer your questions to save you from having to go back. We don’t know where Ashley went yet. Well, I do, but you guys don’t. It won’t come out for awhile. And Paula and Arthur will be making an appearance in the next few chapters. I haven’t mentioned them much yet, on purpose. Thanks for reading though. I’m flattered that you like it. I know it’s starting slow, so thanks.

    3. Allow me to toss a few adjectives out there to best describe this fanfic…poignant, thought provoking, sarcastic, heartbreaking, fascinating, engaging, romantic, astonishingand above all else inspiring. Your writing evokes every possible emotion and that in my opinion is what you would call a success. PMS

    7. I love this fic, and I love how Chelsea even though she’s neutral she’s going to help Ash out and i’m glad Ash is going to fight for Spencer.
