    Happy Birthday Goober (Have I wished it enough yet? I’m sure I can find somewhere else to shout it!)

    Ashley had tried to insist on driving them home, but Spencer needed her car and wouldn’t hear of it. Instead the brunette trailed them as Spencer deliberately drove very carefully and cautiously home, aware of the tornado of turmoil within her own self. She got home and got Elly and Mr. Ruffles out of the car with slow, pointed movements. Everything was still moving in slow motion and her skin felt numb.

     

    She barely paid attention to the brunette pulling into the driveway behind them as she ushered Elly into the house. Leaving the door open she started the motions of being at home, turning on cartoons for Elly and moving towards the kitchen to start dinner. She didn’t notice the door close or Ashley coming towards the kitchen. She only really noticed her surroundings when she realized that she couldn’t hold the saucepan still enough to fill it with water and her hand was shaking so badly that the pan was dancing like a hot griddle. She felt strong hands take it out of her grasp and then the world went to mush. Shaking she let herself be pulled into Ashley’s embrace, winding her arms around the brunette’s waist and resting her head on the girls shoulder. She felt soothing hands dance up and down her back, calming her shaking.

     

    No words were spoken. Spencer figured she’d put most of what needed to be said into those two words she’d uttered in Ashley’s classroom. “I’m pregnant.”

    What would her mother say if she’d heard the blasphemy in Spencer’s head. The thought of her mother hearing her thoughts made Spencer giggle but it was the calm before the storm, the small laugh turning into a torrent of tears that she couldn’t hold back. Ashley’s arms held her up and the soothing voice murmured in her ear, nothing concrete that Spencer could discern through the flood of her tears, but comforting in its tone. Combined with the gentle caress of the brunettes arms sweeping up and down her back, Spencer’s tears were over almost as soon as they had begun. Sniffling pitifully she pulled back.

     

    “Sorry.” She whispered.

    1. Wow…Wow…Thats about all I can say right now… … …Wow. I love this story. It is just too amazing for words. Ashley is seriously my hero in this story. I love the way she is with Spence, and how she is so willing to help take care of the new baby… even though we already know she would because she wants to be with Spencer but oh well. :) Anyway amazing update. You should seriously change the name of this story to “Amazing” because that is about the only way I can describe it. PMS! HAPPY BIRTHDAY GOOBER!!!!!!!!!

    2. Well, well…things are quite the mess right now. Poor Spencer; what a blow to deal with. I mean, do you keep it? Single mother with two kids? What will Gray say? Or mom and dad? I mean, as much as Spencer would want the child, would she be able to support and manage a baby and a 6 yr old? Talk about not getting any sleep. Mom and dad may support Spencer having the baby and getting back together with Gray. But, we all know that is a baaaad decision and I highly highly doubt Spencer would entertain the idea. However, it is Gray’s child and if he has a change of heart and wants to raise the child, then that opens up a whole new can of worms. Not to mention, Ash will always be her close friend, but they are obviously more, and that tension and heartache will always be lurking. Hmmm…I am not Spencer and I don’t know her character’s background; but, part of me would desperately want the child, while the other half recognizes the severity of that decision and consider all issues, such as financial stability, and single-motherhood. It would be nice for her children to have a father and I would hope that one would be a part of their lives, however this specific situation may not have that luxurity. We have to make personal sacrifices in our children’s best interest. Yet, Spencer deserves to be happy also. If anything, I believe Ash will stand by her no matter what…even if she remarries, gets back together with Gray, stays single; it will be painful, but she’ll do it. That’s why Spence needs to eventually see past all the drama and such and recognize that the person who will help provide for her and stick by her through all of it, is standing right next to her. Ahhh! This fic is really starting to affect my psyche, lol. I love this fic like I love my crack.Goobers, Happy Birthday! Yay for b-days! Hope you had fun, got gifts, had a few drinks…you know the drill. :0)

Maybe when most of the dust settles they’ll finally be able to start reavaluate thier current ‘Just Friends’ status…hmmmm? hehe Looking forward to your next chapter.
